I lived in Whitehorse Yukon for about 5 years - before that above the Arctic Circle in Inuvuk NWT Canada - while I lived in the north I tried everything I could at least once including camping in the mountains in the middle of winter. It was about 20 below F and in the morning we could here the wolves howling not too far away. It was great ... but cold : )
Wow.
The only thing I can think of here is that I have camped by a lake and listened to the gators call and splash near by. An amazing sound. Grew up swimming with them and manatees here in our springs.
This was years ago before the tourists ruined so many gators by feeding and so many have no fear of walking up on you now.
